STRETCHING. DO YOU DO IT, AND IF SO ARE YOU DOING IT CORRECTLY by Abi Durrant Fitness ?

Too often I see people going into the gym and just picking up the heaviest weights they see and start pumping iron. Or the jump on the treadmill and just run.

Please don't be that person.


You should always perform some sort or warm up routine, to get your body mentally and physically ready for the session ahead.

Now the question is do you do dynamic or static stretching?

DYNAMIC should be your answer. Mobility drills and exercises which will activate your muscle spindles so that they are ready to perform optimally.

STATIC stretching should NOT be done at all prior to a session. In fact this will actually decrease performance according to scientific research.
